Heather - stunning in the 2009 HH4H t-shirt

We had at least 60 people show up last night to practice singing for Heather for the HH4H.  Oh my what fun we had.  Some of us hadn’t sung in a choir for some decades, some sing daily and some have never sung.

Lynn bravely led us through the songs, even handing out the odd sheet music or lyric.  The rest we are on our own for!  Heather seemed to be enjoying the noise – but we know she’s a good sport.

Special thanks to Glen Morris Church for allowing us to use their building, to everyone for coming out.  And a great big thank you to everyone for putting up with my ‘singing’.  Those of you around me know who you are.

Heather and Bob, at it again

Ron Furlong, Ken Furlong, Heather and Bob SnellThey just won’t stop working at raising awareness and funds for ALS research!

Ron Furlong of Ayr leaves June 14th to participate in a re-enactment of a famous transAmerican car race held in 1909.  He’ll be participating in a restored 1914  open top Model T.  On his journey he’ll have large decals carrying the ALS Hope logo on the side of the car.  He’ll also have donation cards for ALS Canada.  In fact, before he’s even started on the Journey he’s gotten a donation.

Ron said that he wants to promote ALS awareness as a tribute to Heather.  Ron said “Heather is just such a remakable woman…her enthusiasm is infectious and anything I can do to help her is well worth the effort”.

Thank you for your support in this battle Ron, and best of luck with the race.

Special thanks to the Ayr News for allowing us to use their image and for the background information.

Thank you Peter Etril Snyder

snyder_peter_etrilHeather, Aunt Connie and Uncle Dave took another road trip this week.  The road trips are often wonderful opportunities for awareness raising and fun.

This week they went to Peter Etril Snyder Gallery in Waterloo.  After typing with Peter at length, he kindly agreed to come to the Hootenanny!

Peter will be at the Hoot from 2pm to 4pm sketching and doodling.  By all accounts he is a humourous and kind man.  I can’t wait to meet him.

If you are in Waterloo drop in and visit his studio.  He has 1700 paintings featuring Mennonite life, florals and landscapes.  They are beautiful glimpses of life around the Region of Waterloo.

Donations Welcome

We are looking for donations for our Silent Auction at the HH4H.ca

Without the generous support of friends, family, local merchants, and complete strangers we wouldn’t have been able to raise over $100,000 to date for ALS research.

Feel free to leave a comment if you can help out, to contact Teri Vincent or tweet me at marthamihaly !

Thanks again.
